Atlas Waterfront Site Environmental & Geotechnical Information

In May 2017, the City of Coeur d’Alene entered the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality’s Brownfields Assessment Program to provide environmental assessment of the Atlas Waterfront Property. The City has been able to receive these services at no cost thanks to direct grants from DEQ.

To date, a Phase I assessment has occurred, which provides a historical analysis of past uses (this site was, for more than 100 years, the Atlas Lumber Mill). The City and DEQ are now working on a Phase II assessment, which is a site-wide analysis to look for any potential environmental contamination. This website section includes documentation related to this process, information on the Brownfields Program, and previous geotechnical review of portions of the property.
