Coeur d'Alene Celebrates Arbor Day!

Coeur d'Alene is planning several Arbor Day events during the week of April 22nd
– April 27th.

All of the Fourth Grade students in the Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland school districts will be receiving tree seedlings. The seedlings were purchased with donations from local timber industry companies, tree services, and nurseries. They will be individually packed and tagged by Arbor Day volunteers on Monday, April 22nd.

Along with the seedlings, the Fourth Grade students will receive an Arbor Day button. The designer of this year's button, and winner of the Arbor Day Button Art Contest, is Alura Waters of Coeur d'Alene High School.

Friday, April 26th is Idaho's official Arbor Day. The Master Gardeners will celebrate by giving out free tree seedlings at the Hayden, Rathdrum, Post Falls, Spirit Lake and Athol libraries.

Coeur d'Alene will be having a community-wide Arbor Day Celebration at Cherry Hill Park (1718 N 15th St) on Saturday, April 27th at 9:00 a.m. It will start with a free pancake breakfast sponsored by Sun Valley Tree Service. A ceremony will be held at 9:45 a.m. where the winners of the Arbor Day button art contest and poster contest will be recognized. Coeur d'Alene will also be presented with a Tree City USA award and Growth Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation. This will be the 29th consecutive year of Tree City USA recognition for Coeur d'Alene.

There will be a display of Arbor Day button and poster art, door prizes, and tree care information. Free tree seedlings will be given to all who attend. Free landscape woodchips (mix of woodchips and CDA Green) will be given out from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Bring your own pick-up truck, garbage can ,or bucket.
