  1. How do I find out about City employment opportunities?

The City of Coeur d’Alene uses NEOGOV as an online hiring system that allows applicants to create a user profile and account, apply for current job opportunities, and check the status of their application online. Current job openings

 

  1. Are all City of Coeur d’Alene job openings posted on NEOGOV?

Yes, as of January 1, 2019, all job openings for the City of Coeur d’Alene are posted online using NEOGOV.

 

  1. Can I apply for a City of Coeur d’Alene job by email?

No, the City of Coeur d’Alene recruitment process is fully automated. Applicants must login to the City of Coeur d’Alene NEOGOV page to apply for any City position. Applications submitted via postal mail, email, fax, or hand-delivered will not be accepted. Also, applications filed through other online applications, such as Indeed, will not be accepted.   1. How do I register on NEOGOV to submit an application?

If you have not registered yet, go to the City of Coeur d’Alene Career pages website and select “Sign In.” In the drop-down box, you will see a link to create a new account. Follow the instructions to set up your user account. Remember to keep a record of your username and password once you have set up your account. You will use the same username and password each time you apply for other positions or check the status of your application.

 

  1. An email address is required to complete the online application form. What if I do not have an email account?

If you do not already have an email account, free email is available through a number of providers. Though we cannot endorse any particular provider, you may research “free email” through Google or other search engines.

 

  1. How do I get help registering with NEOGOV?

  1. What if I do not have computer and/or Internet access?

There are a number of ways to apply online for City of Coeur d’Alene jobs. You may use public computers located at the Coeur d’Alene Library, any other public libraries, or our job application kiosk located at City Hall, 710 E. Mullan Avenue. City Hall business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

  1. What if the application requires an electronic document attachment, such as a résumé, cover letter, or certifications, and I only have a paper copy?

These documents, if not already on your computer, need to be scanned and saved. Most public libraries in Kootenai County have scanning capabilities for public use. Also, you may check with your local UPS store or print shop to see if they offer this service for a small fee. Please note, the Human Resources Department is not able to scan documents for you.

 

  1. May I apply for more than one job?

Yes, you may apply for any position in which you are interested and for which you think you are qualified. Once your application is created in NEOGOV, you may apply to any job opening.

 

  1. What is the deadline date to apply for a job?

Each position will be posted with either a specific deadline date to apply or as an “open continuous” process. For those with a specific date, applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on that deadline date, as the application process closes at that time. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline date. If the position for which you are applying is open continuous, you may submit your application at any time.

 

  1. Can I add additional information to my application after the deadline date?

No, changes to your application can only be made prior to the deadline date.

 

  1. How do I request veterans preference when applying for a job with the City of Coeur d’Alene?

 

If you wish to request veterans preference, you must attach your DD214 Form and any other supporting documentation when completing your application in order for the City of Coeur d’Alene to determine your eligible status and veterans preference in accordance with Idaho State Law.

 

  1. Who do I contact if I have issues accessing my online account?

If you are having issues with your login or have forgotten your password, use the “Forgot my password” link that is directly below the username/password login box on the Applicant Login page. The system will generate an email with that information. Please be sure to check your spam/junk mail folders and also add [email protected] and [email protected] to your safe sender list. If you do not receive the email notice, please contact NEOGOV Customer Support toll-free at 888-NEOGOV1 and follow the prompts for applicant assistance.

 

  1. When is the Employment Opportunities list updated? I do not want to miss my chance to apply.

The list is updated every time there is a new job opening. Most job postings are open for at least two (2) weeks. Seasonal and temporary jobs may open and close at any time.

 

  1. Can I apply for a job that is not advertised now?

No, we are only able to process applications submitted in response to a specific advertised vacancy.

 

  1. Can I apply for a job shown under “Promotional Jobs?”

Only current City of Coeur d’Alene employees may apply for “promotional job” opportunities.
