Atlas Waterfront Earthwork Update

Posted: 5/9/2018 9:14:39 AM
If you have seen or heard construction equipment going into and out of the Atlas Waterfront project recently, the reason is that Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) contractors are moving excess fill dirt from the I-90 construction project to the Atlas project site.  The City was able to negotiate with the contractor to haul and compact the excess fill dirt, which is needed for future development of the Atlas Waterfront project.

Work is currently underway and ahead of schedule.  The anticipated schedule, which is subject to change, is as follows:
  • Week of May 7: Importing fill from roadway
  • May 14 to end of May: Smaller quantity importing fill from pipe excavations
  • Early July: Importing fill from roadway
  • Late August/Early September: Importing fill from roadway
We do apologize for any inconvenience the dirt moving is causing! Contractors have been working hard to complete the effort in as short of time as possible. While the construction noise may be annoying, the inconvenience is short-term and the benefit of public access to the waterfront is long-term. For more information and regular updates on the Atlas Waterfront project, please continue to monitor the Atlas Waterfront webpage at cdaid.org/atlaswaterfront.
