McEuen Park's Harbor House, rapidly taking shape near the base of Tubbs Hill in downtown Coeur d'Alene, will officially be called the "Coeur d'Alene Rotary Clubs' Harbor House" when the park opens later this spring.
Community business leaders representing all three of the city's Rotary Clubs have pledged $50,500 over the next three years for the naming rights to the Harbor House. The funds are being collected by the Panhandle Parks Foundation and will be available for various local park improvement projects, said Ron Ouren, a board member for the Coeur d'Alene Rotary Club who also serves on the parks foundation board.
,The first installment includes $11,666.66 from the Coeur d'Alene Rotary, $5,000 from the Sunrise Rotary, and $500 from the recently formed Thursday evening Rotary. "The Rotary was set up years ago to enhance local business and give back to the community," Ouren said. Total pledges from the three groups is: Coeur d'Alene Rotary, $35,000; Sunrise Rotary, $15,000; and Thursday Evening Rotary, $500.
A plaque will adorn the Harbor House recognizing the Rotarians. Meanwhile, the Panhandle Parks Foundation is seeking donors for naming rights for other McEuen Park amenities, including benches, swings, drinking fountains, flag poles, and a donor wall.
