The Coeur d'Alene Police Patrol Division is comprised of a Captain and two Lieutenants. Patrol operates in four overlapping shifts: Days, Swings, Power & Graveyard Shift. Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant with Sergeants as field supervisors.
The Patrol Division operates 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and provides law enforcement services throughout the City of Coeur d'Alene. Patrol Officers respond to a variety of calls for service such as batteries, burglaries and vandalism to property.
Officer response includes investigating reports of crime, compiling crime reports, and arresting offenders when necessary. Other activities include responding to and investigating traffic accidents, issuing citations for traffic law violators, and maintaining a visible presence to discourage criminal activities.
Specialized units, such as the Narcotics K-9 Team, Special Intervention & Response Team (SIR Team) and the Traffic Unit are under the command of the Patrol Division. The Patrol Division also operates the Field Training Officer Program.
