K-9 Unit

K9 Ramos is a Belgian Malinois who was born in the Netherlands. K9 Ramos Is certified in apprehension and protection, tracking, evidence recovery and narcotic detection. K9 Ramos lives at home with his handler Officer Justin Bangs.

Officer Bangs has over 20 years in law enforcement, starting his career in 2002. Officer Bangs Joined the Coeur d Alene Police Department in 2007. Officer Bangs has been assigned to Patrol and Detectives, and served as a SWAT operator, Field Training Officer, Tactical Flight Officer and in 2017 was selected as a K9 handler. K9 Ramos is Officer Bangs’ 2^nd canine.

K9 Yasko is a German Shepherd who was born in Poland. K9 Yasko is certified in apprehension and protection, tracking, evidence recovery and narcotic detection. K9 Yasko lives at home with his Handler Officer Hayley Vestman.

Officer Vestman Started her law enforcement career in 2019 after serving 5 years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman 2^nd Class, being deployed to the Persian Gulf in 2017. Officer Vestman began working with the K9 unit as a decoy, and served in that capacity for nearly two years before being selected as a handler in 2022.
