 The Coeur d'Alene Police Investigations Division is comprised of Persons and Property Crimes Detectives, School Resource Officers, Drug Task Force Detectives and Crime Analysis

Crimes Against Persons include Robbery, Homicide, Missing Persons, Assault/Battery, Checks/Forgeries, Domestic Violence Civil Protection Order Violations, Custodial Interference, Stalking, Harassing Phone Calls, Rape, Sex Crimes, Child Abuse and Arson.

Property Crimes include Theft, Burglary, Vandalism and Misc. Crimes.

Detectives have many responsibilities. They investigate cases assigned. They are called out at any hour to investigate crimes. They also attend court hearings, meet with prosecutors and attend regular intelligence meetings with other law enforcement agencies. 

 Detectives conduct follow-up criminal investigations on felony and misdemeanor crimes reported to the Coeur d'Alene Police Department.
Typically, a uniformed officer responds to a call and prepares a police report. Reports requiring follow up are assigned to detectives in the Investigations Division. Cases are prioritized based upon suspect or lead information:
