The Coeur d’Alene Police Department Traffic Team is part of the Patrol Division focused on keeping our community safe by promoting responsible driving and reducing dangerous driving behavior on our roadways. Team members enforce traffic laws, investigate collisions, conduct DUI investigations, and work to identify factors that contribute to crashes and unsafe driving. In addition to enforcement, the Traffic Team helps educate motorists through traffic safety awareness and community outreach, supporting a safer environment for residents and visitors throughout Coeur d’Alene.
The Traffic Team generally works from 3pm-2am 7 days a week in the summer months and 6am-4pm from Fall-Spring.
Traffic Sergeant
The Traffic Sergeant supervises the Traffic Team members and focuses efforts on problem areas within the city by monitoring traffic/collision data as well as listening to citizens that report problems within their neighborhoods. The Traffic Sergeant is also responsible for the morale and welfare of the team and planning operations plans for large events within the city as well as coordinating partnered traffic enforcement events with other agencies such as the ISP, Kootenai County Sherriff Department and the North Idaho DUI Task Force.
