State Child Care License Update

Effective July 1, 2025, due to the passage of House Bill 243 (PDF), the City of Coeur d'Alene no longer issues licenses to child care providers or facilities.

If you operate a child care business from your home, you are still required to obtain a Home Occupation License through the City. 

The City of Coeur d'Alene is committed to supporting child care providers and facility owners through this transition. We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you understand the changes and the next steps to take.
