K27 Memorial
The Coeur d'Alene community suffered a profound loss in May 2015 when Police Department Sergeant Greg Moore was killed in the line of duty while working to keep the community safe. Sgt. Moore was the first Coeur d'Alene officer to lose his life in the line of duty. His tragic death deeply saddened the community, leaving behind not only a fallen officer, but also a family without a husband and father.
Through the dedication of the Panhandle Parks Foundation, the K27 Forever Memorial was made possible through generous community donations, including corporate, private, and grant contributions, reflecting a shared commitment to honor Sgt. Moore and all law enforcement officers.
The K27 Memorial serves as a place for residents and visitors to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by law enforcement. At its center is a memorial waterscape featuring three waterfalls and monuments inscribed with the words “Respect,” “Honor,” and “Remember.” Each cascade flows into a pool illuminated by blue LED and fiber optic lighting, symbolizing the “Thin Blue Line.” The memorial also includes benches where visitors can sit quietly, reflect, and pay tribute to those who serve and have given their lives.
