Coeur d’Alene declares increased fire restrictions in city

Restrictions on fires and equipment operation in Coeur d’Alene will take effect the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 15, in response to increased fire restrictions statewide. 

The City of Coeur d’Alene Fire Department is imposing the new Stage 2 restrictions in City limits based on coordination with the Idaho Department of Lands and other firefighting agencies throughout the state.

New restrictions include:

  • No campfires or stove fires, including on developed recreation areas and private land.
  • Chainsaws or other equipment operation is only allowed between 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a one-hour fire watch after equipment use.
  • No smoking outside of enclosed vehicles or buildings, where allowed.
  • No motorized vehicles being utilized off designated roads or trails.

Exceptions:

  • A fire or stove/ grill fueled solely by liquid petroleum fuels – such as propane tanks – may be used only in an area clear of flammable material.
  • Smoking is allowed while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter cleared of all flammable material.
