Coeur d’Alene begins major street overlay repair

The City of Coeur d’Alene will place more than three miles of new asphalt on streets throughout the community through mid-August, and drivers are urged to use caution while in road work areas.

Streets being overlayed – where old asphalt is ground up and new asphalt is placed – include Front Avenue and portions of its side streets between 8^th and 21^st streets; Hanley Avenue between Ramsey Road and Highway 95; and Dalton Avenue between N. Stafford Road and N. Pleasant Way.

Motorists are asked to use caution in these areas. Traffic control is in place to guide motorists. Residences within these zones are directly notified of the work so that vehicles and other property can be removed from the street during grinding and paving.

The 3.31 miles of asphalt overlay work is being done by Poe Asphalt Paving for $529,767.

Combining the overlay work with the City’s chip seal program and other Street crew work, Coeur d’Alene spends about $1.2 million annually on street maintenance to ensure a great commute for residents and visitors.
