Novel Destination in the ‘Midst of Gorillas’

The next Novel Destinations will cover a trip to Uganda and Rwanda in September 2011 to track mountain gorillas.
“In the Midst of Gorillas” will be presented by Brian and Lesley Samuels Friday, Oct. 21, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave.
“Tracking gorillas involves sometimes many hours of climbing at 8,000 to 12,000 feet to find the gorilla family that we had been assigned to observe,” Brian Samuels said, noting that they spent about 60 minutes with the primates before withdrawing to the trailhead.
They observed three gorilla families during the trip.
