"Support Local Gems" this Friday, April 24

Message from Mayor Widmyer:  As Mayor, and also as a Small Business Owner, I would like to encourage the citizens of Coeur d’Alene to support our local small businesses. This Friday, April 24th, kicks off the “Support Local Gems Initiative,” sponsored by Senator Jim Risch, in partnership with the Idaho Department of Commerce, Governor Brad Little, the Association of Idaho Cities, Idaho Chamber Alliance, Idaho Retailers Association, and other major partners and supporters.

The ”Support Local Gems Initiative” is a statewide public awareness campaign with a simple message -- encouraging support of the small businesses in our communities – by shopping online, purchasing gift cards, ordering food via take-out or delivery, writing an online review, posting supportive messages on social media, or just saying thank you to a business in our community.

Now is the time to rally around and support our small businesses, which are the lifeblood of our community.  The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many small businesses across the State of Idaho to close or significantly reduce the services they provide, threatening livelihoods, creating thousands of job losses, and jeopardizing the future of local businesses across our state.  Please take the time to support your favorite small businesses this Friday, and every day, in any way that you can.  Your support can make all the difference in these difficult times.  Thank you.
