The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department again saw an increase in incident responses in 2016, responding to 8,192 calls for service, up 4.5 percent from 7,835 in 2015.

These calls for service included 41 Structure fires, 1,759 “other fire calls” (brush fires, car fires, rubbish fires), and 6,392 EMS calls.

December 2016 was the department’s busiest month of the year with 786 calls for service, beating July and August which are typically the busiest months.

This January CDA Fire ran 724 calls for service.  The 16 year average for January responses is 584.  If this trend continues we could see an additional 500 plus calls for service this year.

In 2016 CDAFD had three fire stations, housing two fire engines and one ladder truck and two paramedic ambulances, and a battalion chief.

At the end of 2016 the City hired nine additional firefighters, opened the new Fire Station 4 at Atlas and Ramsey, and took possession of three brand new Rosenbauer Fire Engines.

“We’re excited to have the support of our community and City Council, and proud to be able to continue to provide the best possible service to our community and guests of the City of Coeur d’Alene” said Fire Chief Kenny Gabriel.
