Coeur d'Alene Appoints New Water Superintendent

Terry Pickel, Assistant Water Superintendent, has been named Coeur d’Alene’s next Water Superintendent, filling the position vacated by retiring Water Superintendent, Jim Markley. He will assume the position January 16th.

Pickel is an Inland Empire native and began his career as an operator for public water systems in 1981 with the City of Cheney, where he worked for 24 years. He joined the City of Coeur d’Alene Water Department in the fall of 2005 as Assistant Water Superintendent. Pickel maintains water distribution, treatment and cross-connection control licenses in both Idaho and Washington and his experience ranges from infrastructure construction, maintenance and replacement, to water system planning, management and capital improvements. Pickel is an active member of several boards and associations related to aquifer and public water system protection and management.

Coeur d’Alene City Administrator Jim Hammond noted, “We are pleased to find an internal candidate with skills and enthusiasm necessary to lead our Water Department.”
